What images will change the way a person sees the world after viewing them?

Answer by Michael Adams:

I see a lot of posts discussing various things about war, space, religion, death….

But this particular photo from 2005 struck me as the one that’s had a particular impact on me. For all the madness and mayhem on this world, on another world, right now, robots are enabling us to see a place otherwise untouched by human hands. And we have it within our technological prowess to send people to this place: to see these sunsets for ourselves.

Within the next 20 years, barring all the madness on this page, and more to come: telescopes being built now will image other Earths as clear as our own neighbor planets. And footprints will be in the sand on a cold and desolate place as our second home. I hope I’m still around to see these pictures; to see what comes after the madness.
